Random Act of Art #04

Weekend in Lexington, Michigan for their Fourth of July celebration with favorites Shane and Sara.    This is a small leaf dish for jewelry or tea bags or paper clips or other sundries.  We dropped this as we were going to eat at a favorite spot, Sweetwater

New Bell Design

I decided to put this new bell and clapper -fresh out of the kiln-together  instead of folding clothes.  Nice sound!

Life Just Changed Dramatically

My art life just changed in a big way!  No more rolling pin!  Two initial tries and I see a whole new dimension opening before me.  SO excited and happy that I pulled the trigger on this purchase.

Aaaannnddd....
I put the two new slabs that  I just rolled into my new damp box that I made.  So excited about that as well.

I think I just took two giant leaps forward on the path to production.

[  The slab roller that I chose after much research is the best:

Random Acts of Art 02

Okay.....  I haven't been really ready to "drop" something local yet - due to serious insecurity - but, for some unfathomable reason, I suddenly decided to go for it this morning as I was about to head out to the T.E.A.M. Spring Fling at Honey Run.  I thought granddaughter and competitor, Slater Shane, would get a kick out of "dropping" it so I totally left it up to her.  I only gave her the instruction to put it somewhere that a horse wouldn't step on it 😛

No idea if she actually completed the mission......

Random Act of Art 01

So.... I made my first ever Random Act of Art drop and it turns out, it's not as easy to be surreptitious as one might think : )

To catch attention and hopefully make clear what the package is, I have a card that goes on top which says in big letters  "If you find this, it is for you.  I hope it brings a smile to your day."

I wrapped a Morning Meditation Charm and wanted to leave it someplace where 'The Finder"  might be someone who would actually appreciate a Chakras charm; near a Yoga studio seemed like a good idea.  Because I didn't want it to leave it at the studio that I attend (my FAVORITE! Shiva Yoga Shala), I looked for one close enough to drive to without riling up negativity about how long it takes to drive anywhere in Ft. Myers.

I chose a new-ish studio, Dragonfly Yoga & Pilates,  quite close by which happens to be housed on the second floor of a bank building.  Okay.... I went up the elevator and stepped into a very bland small lobby with two very bland doors - one to the studio and one to some bureaucratic office.

The little lobby was empty and there was a drinking fountain by the elevator door, so I quickly placed the package on the floor under the drinking fountain, stepped quickly back into the elevator, quickly hit the DOWN button and, as the doors were starting to shut, I heard "hold, hold the door please."  I did.  A woman came out of the office door, dressed in heels, a skirt, and  white business shirt and noticed something on the floor as she approached the elevator.

"Oh," she said as she picked it up.  "Someone dropped something.  Is it yours?" as she tried to hand it to me.

"Nope!  I  didn't.  Thanks, though."

Outcome..... I actually had eyes on the recipient.    She wasn't really what I was picturing as "The Finder" but I do hope she gets a smile and story out of it.

Finally....

I've been noodling  "Random Acts of Art" for a really long time.  I finally am just about ready for a drop somewhere and just need to wrap it and decide the "random" place in the  Ft. Myers area.

Morning Meditation Charm - Newest Creation

[Besides the obvious] one of the best things about Florida is that there are so many fewer distractions and I can actually focus well enough to finish something.

This "Morning Meditation Charm" has gemstones representing all seven chakras, a ceramic yin yang symbol, and is anchored by a healing quartz crystal.

As the sun rises
May I find balance
Throughout the day.

I even managed to work up an item description as well:
